Week 3 Blog

This week we planted some seeds, The last time I did a project like this was in elementary school and It was super fun to plant some seeds again! I think this project is something that should be implemented in every classroom. It teaches students the process of plant growth, as well as gets them excited to see the plants grow over time.

We also made a diorama of a plant or animal's life cycle. My table mates and I choose to do a turtle life cycle The turtle starts as an egg, then a hatchling, a juvenile, and lastly an adult! From previous classes, I learned that turtles have a complete life cycle because they have 4 stages. I thought it was interesting that I was able to apply what I learned from past lectures to this lab. I think I can apply this activity to my future class because for one you get to play with Plato which is so fun! You also have an opportunity to teach students about a plant or animal's life cycle through creativity!

  1. Monet,
I also found the seed planting activity enjoyable as it has been some time! I also love your model of the life cycle of a turtle, how cute! I thought both activities were pretty basic, yet beneficial to enhance students' learning of living life cycles.

  2. Hey Monet! I also loved doing projects such as planting plants in elementary school. It gives our students a front row seat to witness a plants life cycle!

  3. Hi Monet! I had so much fun creating our turtle life cycle with play-doh, I think that was a really fun idea. I could easily see myself bringing these types of activities into my future classroom to help further their understanding, but I loved your comment about how students can exercise their creativity through these activities as well.
